shadow-maint shadow-utils could allow a local authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by improper input validation. By sending a specially-crafted request to inject control characters into fields provided to chfn, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to misrepresent the /etc/passwd file when viewed.
